Policy Statement
Grey Power is most concerned at the growth of a sub-culture in New Zealand and the personally destructive, anti-social and criminal behaviour that this has created within our Communities. We ask that the Government adopt policies, which will enable all Citizens to live without being afraid of invasion of their property or person thus creating a safe environment for everyone.
 

General
Grey Power advocates a fairer Justice System for all New Zealanders by:
1. Police numbers and deployment to be such that their presence are seen and felt equally on “the beat” duty on the streets, as they are on the open highways, giving the same feeling of deterrent and protection.

2. More emphasis be put on the protection and rights of the victim, with restitution being made by the offender.

3. To abolish Youth and Young Persons’ Legislation and Court, putting the responsibility of the offenders onto the parents or guardians, thus reducing the repetitive offending, allowing the Justice System to deal with the offenders in a meaningful manner.

4. That those sitting in judgement are consistent in administering the law and sentences, being made aware they administer the law, don’t make it.

5. The return of present day Penal Institutions to Prisons along with the reduction of privileges therein making them once again a place of deterrent for crime. To be there “as punishment” being deprived freedom and all rights.

6. Sentences to be SENTENCES, not reduced by way of remission or replaced by parole.

7. That a Restorative Justice system be established to have Offenders meet with the victims of the Crime they committed to make the Offender aware of and understand the harm that they have done.

8. The aim of sentencing is to compensate the victim and to recognize that the crime was committed against the victim as well as the State.
